The Jackson Ambulance Service is hiring full-time paramedics to work a 48 hours on/96 hours off rotation schedule. The Jackson Ambulance Service is run by the City of Jackson. The Service responds to roughly 600 calls per year that includes both 911 and inter-hospital transfers for the local hospital. The Jackson Ambulance Service Paramedic will be partnered with an EMT, and will respond to 911 calls and ALS interhospital transfers. The Jackson Ambulance Service will utilize their part-time and on call EMTs and EMRs to provide interhospital transfers for BLS runs.

The salary range for this position is between $26/hr and $32/hr based on qualifications and experience. The 48/96 schedule results in an average of 56 hours per week, with overtime (1.5 pay) after 40 hours.


Responsibilities (Required by date of hire- assistance available)

  • Provide on-site medical care to large crowds such as sporting events, and local venue stand-by coverage. (Special Events)
  • Provide on-scene and mobile care to patients during a 911 response.
  • Provide care to patients during inter-hospital transfers.
  • Provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in their training as a Paramedic.
  • Provide safe transportation, to include accurately discerning street names through map reading, the ability to correctly distinguish house numbers, and addresses of business locations, in the most expedient manner, are essential.
  • Appropriately assess a patient and accurately convey the condition to other medical professionals.
  • Provide an accurate written report describing a patient's condition, medical history, and the treatment provided.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for billing information.
  • Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition, in addition to monitoring all fluid levels and gauges.


Qualifications

  • Current NREMT-P (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians- Paramedic)
  • Current Minnesota Paramedic license
  • Current AHA CPR provider card
  • Current AHA ACLS and PALS provider cards
  • Current NAEMT PHTLS provider card
  • Ability to provide - medical care, at the Paramedic level, while safely transporting patients.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment interview including a physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
  • Attend company provided training and driving course.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a paramedic
  • Community Paramedic certification
  • College degree
  • AHA instructor
